Culinary Society folds

It began in 1980 as the Delaware Valley Society of Food Professionals, and met monthly to explore new cuisines and learn from top chefs.

Now the Culinary Society of Philadelphia is gone, thanks to … the growth of foodie culture.

“‘We are victims of the wonderful Philadelphia food renaissance,” current president David Levy told a gathering of fifty people – members and their guests – who came together at the Moshulu for a last supper.’

Food TV and the resulting explosion in new restaurants and good farmer’s market produce were probably to blame.
